Simple Floral Card

Hi,

If you have been following my Facebook page or saw my Blog from 5th October, you will have seen that 5th October was World Card Making Day & this Card was the first one I shared to mark that special day in the Papercrafting Calendar. It's made from a piece of the Pressed Petals Speciality Designer Series Paper (DSP) & as promised in my last Blog Post featuring the Anniversary Card I'm back to share with you how this Card was made. It is very simple & apart from tying a bow & a small amount of stamping/heat embossing, all that is really involved is cutting & sticking some card.

I have firstly used a piece of Mossy Meadow card cut at 8" x 6" scored at 4" on the long side.
Fold along the score making the crease crisp using your Bone Folder. This is the Card Base.

(20 cm x 15cm folded at 10cm on the long side)

Cut a piece of Whisper White Card 3 5/8th x 5 3/4" Stick this to the front of your base card using your preferred Adhesive (I have used Snail Adhesive)
Make sure that you centralise the piece of white card so that you have a border of Mossy Meadow visible.

(9cm x14.5cm)

Next cut a piece of Night of Navy Card 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" & stick that on top of the white card, again making sure that you have a border of Whisper White visible.

(8.2cm x13.9cm)

Using this piece of the Pressed Petal Speciality Designer Series Paper (DSP)

I have cut out my chosen Card Front from the DSP, in this instance the one bottom right.

& have trimmed it to fit my card front. My final measurements for the DSP were
2 7/8th x 5 1/4". The trick is to trim the image gradually so that you finish up with the entire floral image for your card & a similar amount of border around the image.

(7.4cm x 13.4cm)

Now this needs to be stuck to the front of the Card on top of the Night of Navy & in this instance the Card is going to be in Portrait style.

For the inside of the card cut a piece of Night of Navy Card 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" & stick inside your Card making sure you centralise it so that a border of Mossy Meadow can be seen.

(9.4cm x 14.5cm)

Next cut a piece of Whisper White Card at 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" & add any stamping or Sentiment that you want to include in your Card. Then stick this inside your Card on top of the Night of Navy making sure that you can still see a border of the Night of Navy.

(8.8cm x 13.9cm)

Turning our attention back to the front of the Card, for my card I heat embossed my greeting (taken from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set) using White Emboss powder onto a piece of Night of Navy & then using my Big Shot in conjunction with the second smallest oval Die from the Stitched Shaped Framelits Dies  I have Die Cut an oval to attach to my card.

As an alternative you could use one of the Label Punches, personally I think the Pretty Label Punch would work well or even the Story Label Punch, but that's just my opinion!

If you don't have the equipment to Heat Emboss your chosen Sentiment why not try stamping Night of Navy Ink onto Whisper White Card.

To finish the Card off I have attached the oval containing my sentiment to the Card using Stampin' Dimensionals & then I've taken a small piece of Polka Dot Tulle ribbon, tied a bow & attached it on top of the the Night of Navy oval using a couple of glue dots.

As you can see from the photo above there are a number of possibilities to make some quick & easy Cards using one of the Card Fronts on that piece of DSP, so by following the basic instructions above but changing the colours to match the Card front, you can finish up with a variety of Cards made from just 1 sheet of DSP.

Please note that whilst I live in a country that measures in Metric, my formative years were spent learning Imperial measurements & my brain struggles to cope with metric measurements!! You will notice that under each section I have given metric measurements in brackets, they are approximate based on the measurements I've used for this card. If you are working in Metric, just adjust them slightly if you wish,  thereby working in complete Centimetres. I hope that makes sense.

For my next Blog Post I will be sharing another Card that is based on one of the Card fronts from this paper but I'll be showing you by means of my You Tube Tutorial how to add some extra detail to the card.
